Bluespace In Silvertown

The Royal Victoria Docks and the surrounding area is a growing entity within the London Borough of Newham, its introduction of The Crystal Building and the soon to be realized Silvertown development portrays the area as one with a sustainable future. My proposal is a hybrid mixed-use floating structure that spans across the Docklands from one side of the water to the other. It acts as an inhabited bridge in which civilization can engage and exchange through a variety of activities. The design includes a Museum and Gallery, Retail Space, Exhibition Space and a Restaurant. Due to the floating nature of the project like a pontoon, the building can be split into three and re-configured as a modular system, to generate adventurous spaces with the purpose of creating exclusive areas for events to take place on London’s waterscape. As a place of exchange, it also allows international business visitors from London City Airport to commence meetings in close proximity to the airport or for the tourist, a break from the standard duty free and the opportunity to experience a building like no other in London.
